Could you redefine the guess variable in the else if statements?

Could you do this to replace the old variable value:

else if (parseInt(guess)>randomNumber) { guess = prompt(guess + ' is too high, try a lower number'); }

instead of creating a new variable:

else if (parseInt(guess)>randomNumber) { guessAgain = prompt(guess + ' is too high, try a lower number'); }

I don't see why not and honestly I'd probably do it like that as long as we didn't need to keep the original guess for some purpose later in the "game".
