General Discussion

Could you teach us something new?

I know this is primarily a website teaching about about design and web development. However, I see you guys are actually releasing good programming languages such as Python and Java. So, I was thinking could you guys teach Visual Basics? There is a lot of people looking for great websites that teach this. So it would be great if one of my favorite websites would be able to teach this.

Why would you want them to teach Visual Basic? What does it do better then Python or Java? How would it help someone become employed easier then what Treehouse already teaches? What problem does Visual Basic solve better then any other language (if it does) and how does that fit with Treehouses goals as a company?

I know next to nothing about Visual Basic but I believe everything it can do could be done "better" in another language. Feel free to correct me I am always willing to learn.

I hardly know anything as well. What I do know however is that it is incredibly easy to make a GUI just point, click, and or drag. There are tools all ready to for your disposal such as menu stripes and whatnot. It is uses C# to code most of the time I believe. I am not sure. The more languages you know the better.

There are a variety of Point and Click GUI programs such as QT or even a Visual C++ which I would consider a better option then Visual Basic. C# and Visual Basic are completely different languages. You maybe be confusing that with the Visual Studios IDE which has support for many different languages.

I'm sorry yes, the IDE. I feel dumb now. I just feel like they should teach stuff with that. Maybe like Azure or something if they still want something in the web development side.

Don't feel dumb! It is a simple mistake. Additionally I don't think an IDE is a topic Treehouse will be covering anytime soon. They are kind of learn as you go kind of things. I use Eclipse myself and keep a cheat sheet bookmarked for little short cuts I might not have memorized. While helpful I believe their time could be better spent elsewhere.
