Course Angular Basics: Submitting Form Data: Left vs right expression

In the following code in the video:

<app-entry-comment-form onCommentAdded()="onCommentAdded($)"></app-entry-comment-form>

Could someone explain why the left side of the expresssion 'onCommentAdded()' refers to the method in the EntryCommentFormComponent Class, while the right side refers to the one EntryComponent Class? Both of the methods have the same name, so how does it get decided which ones is which?

I feel like I'm missing something basic here. But I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this!
