Crossroads... please help :-)

Hey guys, im in a crossroads at the moment i just turned 25 and only realized now that I really want to go into coding, Ive always had a passion for web design, but recently ive read up that with website/services like wix ect. web designers wont really be in high demand in future years. What would be the next best path to go down on java maybe? or is the stories ive been reading up on bolony? and that there is actually a great future for web designers.

Thanks for reading this and any info would be awesome!

Have a nice day!

I can't speak to the article in question, but i'd generally take those kinds of articles with a grain of salt. I remember reading an article announcing the death of the full stack developer a few years back.

I believe services such as Wix might be a viable option for some small businesses, which don't want to (or cannot) spend the money on custom, tailored websites. But there will always be a demand for web designers/developers as many companies require tailor-made solutions that cant be provided by services such as squarespace, wix or software such as Adobe Muse etc. Also, with many of these services some people don't seem to realize that they are kind of tied to these products via a subscription etc. - when the provider goes bust or discontinues the service they are left with a site that is hard to maintain, update etc.
