Android Build a Simple Android App (retired 2014) Getting Started with Android Android Setup and the Crystal Ball Project

Crystal Ball launch problem

What do you do when you've launched the A.V.D. manager and the (5554:droid) black box launches but the android text, with the "highlight moving across it," doesn't display. Eventually the black box flickers from black to white and eventually stays permanently white. Not sure what to do. I uninstalled the bundle and re-installed it then followed the video down to the T again but same result. Not sure what to do now.

The emulator can be quite slow on some computers. Try restarting Eclipse and the emulator, though it may not make a difference. If not, check out Genymotion as an alternate emulator. I recorded a workshop about it and it's available as a stage. It's free and easy to use and works so much better than the default emulator.
