css challenge task 1 of 4

i am so confused as to where i am going wrong. i made another discussion asking how to use an id selector. this is the code i have put for it

copyright{

color: #faf3bc; background: #2a0400; border-radius: 8px; }

the question is Select the copyright using an ID selector. Give it a solid top border that is 8 pixels thick and has a color of #2A0400. is it something really simple that im just not seeing? please help

You aren't giving it a border. The question wants you to use the border properties to apply the styles. It's not asking for a background color, or a border-radius; and I'm not sure why you have a font color in there.

Check out: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_border.asp or https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/border

to begin with i didnt have the colour or border radius, i ust kinda started adding things blindly in hope lol

You need to add an id selector before the copyright :) An id selector is a # before the item you want to select (so in this case #copyright).

i did tipe that, but for some reason it made the word copyright bold and disapeared, but that is in my code

Hey Karen,

I think the mistake is that you set values for the "border-radius" property instead of the "border-top" property. Border-radius is used for rounding corners.

#copyright{
border-top: 8px solid #2a0400;
}

thankyou for your help guys its making alot more sence and those links were very helpful

No problem. Helpful links Ricardo!
