CSS "Foundations"?

I think some of these Deep Dives are a little too deep for the 2nd step in the beginner web development course. I understand whats going on and realize these are cool new features of CSS3 but feel like i should be learning more about functional layouts and making good looking simple sites before I should worry about making a sliding 3d flipping rainbow gradient colored banana. And I can't move on to next steps in the course until I complete the CSS "Foundations" course. Save this stuff for later and teach me the basics!

I don't think you're really suppose to follow the "tracks" at first. First go to courses and do the intro to web, css etc. and then come back later. I'm not a fan of the current track system either to be honest, so I take a course that I find interesting, finish that up and go on to the next. I only use the tracks as a guideline so to speak.

I agree. This part really dragged me down. I enjoyed it, but it didn't quite help me understand the different types of layouts. Maybe it should be split in half or something, at least in the track.

Same feeling, I've just skipped the last few badges of the CSS foundations for now and gone straight onto the CSS Layout Techniques course. You don't need to finish them in order, some say they are locked but when you click on the course > view course, you can then > start the course.

I tend to agree and I wonder if we''ll get an updated CSS Foundations course to reflect this I think the likes of Animations, Transitions and Transforms could be best explored in an advanced CSS course.

Thanks for the responses guys, guess I'm not the only one. Looks like I will do a little jumping around for now... I just don't like that feeling of "skipping" something on the track. Still loving Treehouse though!

Me either. I've not skipped a track or a course yet as I find I learn so much about even the things i thought I knew about.
