Did anyone else find these lessons overwhelming?

I feel like way too much information was presented.

Yes!!! But heck, I'm keeping up.. barely. I'm brand new at coding and sometimes Pasan goes way to fast. I find myself pausing and replaying over and over. I think they forget we're not just watching but actually trying to copy and build our app at the same time.

Nevertheless, great course! I've made a ton of progress over the past month.

Ehi Ernie, I just finished the "How to build a Playlist App" course and... yep, I did a lot of pause-replay, even using an external monitor for displaying the video. Even so, the final version of my Playlist app have a problem with the segue method xD I feel frustrated.

I also agree with you that it was a great course overall, but I think that if the course have last an hour more, allowing Pasan to go throw all this concepts slowly, it would be better.

Hi Fyodor, I haven't taken any of the iOS courses yet, but there were a few of the JavaScript courses that I definitely felt that way about.

I feel the same. Overwhelmed and way too fast. I get that "Did I miss a course?" feeling often, even though I'm following the track.

Feel the same way. The course should be more explanatory and in teachers notes should be some simple homework to be done as well just to practice the new ideas we are learning.

Something that works for me if I find a section overwhelming:

  • Watch video at 2x speed to get the full picture (like when you skim a document to get the idea of what is it about)
  • Write down in my own words what will be accomplished (this is optional, but helps me reinforce concepts)
  • Go back and play at 1x or slower, stopping when needed to write code, etc

Also, sometimes its OK not to grasp all the concepts fully as the next time you approach them you will have "loosened the cap" and maybe they get understood better....

I too felt the same : )
