JavaScript jQuery Basics (2014) Creating a Mobile Drop Down Menu Perform: Part 1

Difficulty with JQuery-Dropdown Menu

Hello everyone. Here's a link to the video I'm working through:

JQuery Dropdown Menu Part 1

I'm confused as I thought I had typed the code exactly as he has it in the video and it is not working. The select menu is appending to the navigation, however it appears that the function is not iterating through the anchor text and creating new options in the select menu...Any help? Note: This was happening in the previous (lightbox examples) as well

 //Problem: It look gross in smaller browser widths and small devices
//Solution: To hide the text links and swap them out with a more appropriate navigation

//Create a select and append to #menu
var $select = $("<select></select>");
$("#menu").append($select);

//Cycle over menu links
$("menu a").each(function(){
  var $anchor = $(this);
  //Create an option
  var $option = $("<option></option>");

  //option's value is the href of the link
  $option.val($anchor.attr("href"));
  //option's text is the text of the link
  $option.text($anchor.text());
  //append option to select
  $select.append($option);
});

//Create a button
//Bind click to button
  //Go to select's location
//Modify CSS to hide links on small width and show button and select
  //Also hides select and button on larger width and shows links
//Deal with selected options depending on current page.

Hi Mike,

You are missing a hashtag

//Cycle over menu links
$("menu a")```

Thanks Mladen...I'm starting to see that those little small items can really cause difficulty.
