Direction Enumerated Switch

Hi,

I'm not sure where my error is. I have created a switch with a case for each direction enum , adding and subtracting accordingly.

What am I missing?

classes.swift
class Point {
    var x: Int
    var y: Int

    init(x: Int, y: Int){
        self.x = x
        self.y = y
    }
}

enum Direction {
    case Left
    case Right
    case Up
    case Down
}

class Robot {
    var location: Point

    init() {
        self.location = Point(x: 0, y: 0)
    }

    func move(direction: Direction) {
        // Enter your code below
        switch (direction) {
             case .Up: location.y + 1
             case .Down: location.y - 1
             case .Right: location.x + 1
             case .Left: location.x - 1
        }
    }
}

Your lines of code...

case .Up: location.y + 1
case .Down: location.y - 1
case .Right: location.x + 1
case .Left: location.x - 1

...are along the right lines but they are calculating a value and not assigning it anywhere. As an example, for the first line...

case .Up: location.y = location.y + 1

...assigns the altered value, or the simpler form of this...

case .Up: location.y++

What is your default? I think that is missing.

Yes, here you need a break statement. I'm working on this one too. :-)

Also, I think that Robot is supposed to be a subclass. That maybe the issue.

A default isn't needed in this case. The switch accounts for every possible value of Direction, so it is exhaustive without a default case.
