Do I need to learn both objective c and swift if I want to make IOS apps?

I am looking into learning how to make IOS apps. Right now I am learning HTML5 and CSS and from researching it they say to learn Objective c and then learn swift for IOS development. Would learning objective C help a lot more or could I go straight into learning swift?

Hi there! There are different schools of thought on this. I've been told that you can learn Swift and develop an app and know next to nothing about Objective-C. I've also been told by at least one app developer that it is definitely in your best interest to know some Objective-C.

Even Treehouse seems to support this claim. Not only do they offer an entire track in Objective-C but they also have a course on Objective-C inside the Swift 2.0 track.

The question becomes, which do you start with? After much reading and talking with app developers, I decided to finish the Objective-C track before completing the Swift 2.0 track. But, as many other things, this is open to debate and personal opinion.

Hope this was helpful! :sparkles:
