When i try to run it i get the pop-up saying i need to register

13,515 PointsYes. In order to run your app on your own iOS device, you must be a member of the iOS developer program. which costs $99 for a year long membership. You can always run your app in the simulator if you have the free developers account.

5,487 PointsMake sure in the upper left hand corner you're choosing to run it on a device in the simulator, rather than your iOS device!

5,487 PointsI think if you're trying to run it to a device you do. If you're just running it in the simulator you should be fine.
