Do you know what is happening with this SQL statement when you use LEFT OUTER JOIN withoug GROUP BY?

The SQL query:

SELECT make.MakeName, COUNT(model.ModelName) AS NumberOfModels FROM make LEFT OUTER JOIN model ON make.MakeID = model.MakeID;

produces the result:

MakeName NumberOfModels
------------------ -----------------
BMW 17
------------------ -----------------

It seems like it shows the last MakeName in the last row in make table and a single COUNT() number.
