Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm under the impression that this is the right code to use. Please help

I requested an answer to the same problem and the solution provided did not work.

app.js
var warning = document.getElementById("warning");
var button = document.getElementById("makeItRed");

button.addEventListener('click', (e) => {
warning.backgroundColor ='red';
});
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>Adding an Event Listener</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="warning">
            Warning: My background should be red!
        </div>
        <button id="makeItRed">Make It Red!</button>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

Youre pretty close! But an element doesn't have a "backgroundColor" attribute.

Thats a sub-attribute of the "style" attribute:

    warning.style.backgroundColor ='red';
