Downgrading techdegree to basic

Hi, I have some plans this month so I want to downgrade my techdegree subscription to basic plan. Will it affect my techdegree?

Hi Khaidem,

No it won't have any impact on your techdegree, the system is really flexible like this. I have done this before and am currently doing it for the JavaScript techdegree.

Just do what works best for you and you can pick up where you left off when ready :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks Martin Jones.

Hey Martin, and Khaidem,

I am coming back to treehouse after a long time and will get started on my track progress. On the other hand, what is a techdegree and how can this be beneficial and am I to start before or after I do various tracks? Thank you in advance!

Hi Ted,

There are currently 4 different tech degrees available, you can find out more about them here: https://teamtreehouse.com/techdegree

The tech degree consists of several different projects which continue to build upon your knowledge as you progress. Each project has it's own "mini-track" if you will, of courses to complete before undertaking the project.

The project is then uploaded to GitHub and submitted for peer review, you will then get feedback on your code which can be very useful as well. After successfully completing the project, you will then be able to peer review others projects as well, giving you the chance to complete code reviews and also see the solutions others came up with.

You will also get access to a slack channel specific to the tech degree of your choice where you can reach out for help, it is very active from what I remember.

For me personally, the biggest motivator to complete the courses and projects was the monthly price tag, it made me ensure that I really did make time in my calendar for learning and stuck to it. The basic and pro price plans are a very similar to cost to a gym membership, and much like the gym I could easily skip it for a few months haha.

This last point could be specific to me, but if you need that extra motivation, the cost helped me to make sure I did the work.

Hope this helps,

Martin
