Easy fast CMS? Easy to learn

Hello treehouse,

I am in a bad situation, I have been using a CMS called Barley for sometime now without issue.

But today after finished another clients website, Barley has decided to stop working. With no help from the dev nor the community it seems to be dead.

I am now not comfortable to send my clients over to them.

So I need to find a new CMS fast, that is easy to learn

This is one of the worst things that could of happened to me, the website is fully finished without issues, now when I am on the last step my chosen CMS decides to die.

I have no idea what to do now, my client is waiting for a CMS, all I can do is wing it through a new CMS

Can anyone recommend an easy to learn CMS to use.

Thanks guys,

WordPress is easily one of the better and user friendly CMS that is out on the market today. Though it is traditionally for blog websites, with a little ingenuity you can definitely create regular content based websites, or store based websites that are easy for your clients to update on their own.

Joomla is another great CMS that is out there, however, it does have a bit a learning curve compared to WordPress and in my opinion is more or less for content-based sites rather than blogs, but of course like WordPress with a bit of ingenuity you can easily create blogs and the like.

Finally Drupal is another great CMS though it is more or less for developers, the learning curve is rather steep but with patience you can create so really great sites with it.

Check them out and see what you think may be of service.

Just so that you know WordPress does have an alternative site that allows the developer to download the CMS to their local system, to upload to their own server.

I think wordpress is the way to go.

Is the treehouse tutorials by Zac a good way to learn the CMS of WordPress?

Is the CMS free to use with WordPress? I use goDaddy for hosting and domain

Yeah, Treehouse does have a good intro to WordPress, and in all honesty unless you are developing plugins with little PHP knowledge, or trying to create custom themes without knowing html and css, WordPress is extremely easy to use and learn.

Yes, Wordpress is free, in fact if you utilize C-Panel their should be a section on the C-Panel that let's you install wordpress onto your server!

Good luck and have fun!
