error with Sass: div.footer & {

The question is: "We want to add an exception for <a> tags that are in the <div> with a class of .footer: those links should be purple. Use the post-selector ampersand to achieve this."

What I entered after searching the Internet which sent me to Tree house answers for a similar question.
What I entered: /* Write your SCSS code below. */ p { a { color: red div.footer & { color: purple; } }

a { color: blue; &:hover { opacity: 0.5; } } }

You're missing a semi-colon after color: red; Otherwise, the code for the question is correct. 

p {
  a {
    color: red;
    div.footer & {
      color: purple;
    }
  }
  > a {
    color: blue;
      &:hover {
        opacity: 0.5;
      } 
  }
