Hi TAPAN JOSHI,

Which video or code challenge are you having trouble with? Can you provide a specific link, a code example, or any more detail?

Ben Jakuben is our Android teacher and should be able to help, but I think he'll want to see some code. :)

please provide me Ben's email id thank you

Hi TAPAN JOSHI,

I just @ mentioned Ben (notice how his name is linked in my previous reply). That will send him a notification about this post, so he should reply soon. :)

thank you very much

I am getting the same error. Seems like the AVD prompt is now requiring the registration of a Device Manufacturer/Device in order to successfully create an AVD - rather than just completing the Name and Target sections as mentioned in the video. Any idea of how to go around this?

Hi Richard,

Yes, the creation dialog has changed with some subsequent updates to the Android Developer Tools (ADT). You can select any Manufacturer/Device to proceed. For general testing I usually use one of the Nexus skins, like the Nexus 4.

Thanks Ben. But I'm also getting this error in the console:

Error: Target location is not inside the SDK. [2013-07-30 11:09:07 - SDK Manager] Failed to set image path properties in the AVD folder.

I'm working on a MAC OSX 10.8.4. I've simplified the path and saved the folder to my desktop. Is there anything else that I need to do?

Hi Richard,

We had another student mention this problem using a Mac, but she was able to solve it by simply reinstalling in another location. Did you re-run initial_setup.sh when you moved the bundle?

Our bundle, or even the one from the Android developer site, is completely stand-alone, so you could try installing a new version to another directory and see if a clean install works. If you continue having difficulty with the Treehouse bundle, I would recommend trying out the one offered by Google, or even the new Android Studio. Android Studio is a bit different, but I and the other students in the forum will be here to help if you have any trouble with it.

Thanks Ben. Will try this.

Hi Tapan,

Does your full error also mention the "Target location is not inside the SDK"? This is a common error on Windows that usually has to do with an installation path that has special characters. Can you tell us the path where the bundle is installed? You might need to move it to a simple path without any spaces or special characters, like C:\android, for example.

There is also some information in this other post that might help you get our bundle or the one from the Android Developer site up and running: https://teamtreehouse.com/forum/android-lesson-cant-run-initialsetupbat

Hi Ben my eclipse is installed in desktop

Can you give me the full path? The Desktop folder is often in "Documents and Settings", which can cause problems because of the whitespaces in that name. I'm on a Mac, so I can't tell you what exact steps to take, but if you right click on the Eclipse icon I think you can get the full path somehow.

C:\Users\Tapan\Desktop\android_dev_environment\eclipse

Hi ben Give me your Email-id I will mail u the screen shot of my error.

Looks good! Not sure what the problem is, then... :worried:

Your best bet might be to try the bundle available from the Android developer site. You can find more information about it in this other Forum post.
