Flash: Learn it or forget it.

I've read this a couple of times, "Flash is dead". Is Flash still worth learning or should I learn JS instead?

Learn JavaScript. I'd say "Flash is dying." (Nick Pettit wrote a blog post about a great example of Flash in action earlier this: Progressive Enhancement With Flash.) Flash might still be the best way to do some things, but you would only want to use it if you also had static HTML or JavaScript that would work well without it. JavaScript is part of the core fabric of the open web and is available on more platforms. I think JavaScript is definitely the way forward.

If you can only learn one, then JS. The only thing I still use Flash for is desktop apps for corporate clients (Flex/Air is more responsive on older machines than HTML5).

I started off in Flash and very rarely get called to build in Flash these days.

And to be honest when I do get asked, its tends to go down the JS route anyways. With HTML5 possibilities growing then most things that can be done in Flash can now be done in JS.

JS all the way!

I say forget it personally... I was already put off by the weird overhauling of Action Script that took place some years ago when I was in college. It put me off web design for a while... then this little thing called jquery showed up and kicked the freakin door in! Between that, CSS3's tasty new features, and Apple not supporting it, learning Flash just seems unnecessary these days. I could be wrong but,
