Following the Stages.

What's the best way to follow along on the stages? Do we Download the ZIP file and copy of that or do we make a new file in a text editor and watch the video?

Make your own file. You will get more practice doing it that way.

Yes, I second Thomas' answer. You'll start to get better at the unique typing skills too (hands to those <%=" etc.) You'll know if you don't do it right, it won't run :D

Charles Talmin - Slightly off-topic but you not be interested in typing.io which is typing practice for programmers.

I definitely agree with everyone here that typing along as you go is best! You'll start to build up muscle memory with the particular language you're working with, and you'll probably also learn a lot about debugging as you work through typos and other issues. The project files are definitely there to help you out, though, if something goes really awry, and of course you can always post questions here on the forum and we'll all help out too :grinning:

I always type along and actually change things as I go to see what will happen. Different words, colors, pictures, etc.

I just started tonight and am half way through the first website project. Have been filtering along in sublime and doing my own refreshing in the browser. Everything has been good until near the end of the css /grid assigning section now my page looks different than theirs and I cannot for the life of me find the error. Frustrating, but I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceburg :-)

I've been having trouble with the CSS grid also. Even if I copy and paste from the provided code, the web page still doesn't align right. There is no uniform border around the pics and text. It's frustrating but I'm just taking a break from it now and then I'll tackle it again with a fresh mind.

Did you look at begining of your HTML file. Did you declare doctype ? Sometimes it resolves the x-files :)
