For anyone breaking into Front-End Developing...what are the main programming languages to master?

....besides HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT. What are potential employers looking for?

Some knowledge of php would be good to have.

Thank you for your feedback!

Hi Walter

I'm currently looking for my first job in Front end development and so far most employers are looking for skills in HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript/JQuery.

Some other things I see on job descriptions are CSS preprocessors like Sass or LESS , task runners such as Gulp or Grunt and frameworks such as AngularJS or ReactJS. Many jobs also ask for familiarity with back end languages such as PHP or CMS experience such as Wordpress or Joomla.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of job postings will be written by HR people with little to no experience in web development who have probably jotted down a few notes from a 10 minute brief with the I.T manager. So don't be too concerned about meeting all the job requirements when you start job searching.

Good luck!

Thank you for your feed back Gary. Because when I look up job postings every company is looking for something a little different at times. PHP and AngularJS seem to be popular here. I hope you find your first job...You'll get there. Good luck!

I will agree that HTML, CSS and JavaScript are a must. I have seen some advertisement where they don't list JQuery but you need to have basic knowledge of Photoshop.

The more you know the better, however know how frustrating it can be when you are looking for a job and they ask you to know much more that you should .

Yes, it seems the more you know the better you're off! I noticed you are in the TechDegree program what are you taking Beata...how are you finding it?

Hey, I am on a Front-End track . I like it a lot. I have tried other courses from different websites and I must say this one is the best. I have learnt so much! 2 months ago I had no idea how to code Now I can create websites, registration forms and other cool things. It is just amazing. I should have started coding earlier.
