For the Love of all things holy and right in the Universe . . . can we get Python/Django Course Already?

<% if user_wants_Python/Django? %>

Look, I've seen the threads on here requesting Python/Django. And there are indeed good resources out there, such as LRTHW, and Udacity, etc. But, they do not have what you guys have, so it's not the same. So . ..

I come from a marketing background and when:

  1. people are begging for something;
  2. and there is a void in the market (i.e., no Python/Django course offerings LIKE what Treehouse offers,

then it would make business sense to give it to us.

Out of the Scores of "Learn/Launch Rails apps in [insert unrealistic expectations(days, weeks, months) here," that it looks like it's time to do something about it.

If you look around, there really is no courses on web applications for Django, but scores of RoR ones, such as Code School, one month rails, etc.

I'm just saying . . . and I'm be factitious here, too.

But, please give us Python/Django Learning adventures! :)

That would be great

YES. PLEASE.

I totally understand what you're saying, Lane. Treehouse is on a mission to provide the best technical education experience possible. We're adding more and more great content all the time and doing our best to add additional languages and skill areas (git, DNS, databases, etc) as fast as we can, but I think the driving principle behind our content creation is that we choose to put out only the best content and learning tools possible. That means sometimes new things take a little while to roll out.

When I first started as a student (I used to be a student...and still am I guess), the Ruby (well, Rails) courses weren't available and the JavaScript courses were lacking. Over time, those languages/courses were filled out with more and more great content and now you can get a pretty comprehensive understanding of both from what's available in our library.

That said, I have no idea if/when Python/Django is going to launch, which I probably should have stated at the beginning of my reply. Sorry for the long answer. :)

Thanks Scott. You know, sometimes, it's nice to rant in the middle of a frustrating coding moment. I do love treehouse, and you're right, there is a lot of nice courses in here. I look forward to the launch of the Python/Django course next week! j/k. ;)

Be well!

As a new user (less than a month, but really liking it here), I completely support this request. Having coded HTML/CSS/Java for a while, I've been doing research on back-end languages, and it seems like Python is really ahead of Ruby in terms of growing popularity (TIOBE index and lots of posts/forums speaking about it). Finally, seeing as Python is being praised for its ease-of-use, simple(r) syntax and generally "great for beginners", it is surprising not to find it on Treehouse. Here's to hoping it gets the course and Badges it deserves!

Agreed on all accounts. :)

I just had a Django project cross my desk... so I could really REALLY use a Django course right about now... just sayin. :-)

+1 from me

yes, please :)

Another +1

I'll pay an extra month of tuition! Can we get a kickstarter going? ;-)

Again +1 :) I'll also pay an extra month of tuition!
