Front end help?

Hello,

I have went through the basics or html and css. One of the example websites caught my attention: bellbros.com and I really want to know how the the scrolling feature on their homepage works. The basics on html and css here do not really help and was wondering how I can get more help on these front end features found on bellbros.com

They are using JavaScript (using jQuery library) for the scrolling effects. So they are using jQuery to detect when user is scrolling and then adding css styling to the elements based on when user is scrolling and what is the scroll position (on what part of the page the user is at vertically) and also when user stops scrolling.
