Hi Team,
Just a quick query, I wan't to become very proficient with Android, so that I can start developing apps over and over.
On completion of the track for Android Development, will that give me enough knowledge and skill to start looking for careers? or realistically will it take a lot more of my own time etc, to make it a reality?
I currently work 50 hours a week on a Help Desk, but I have always wanted to leave so that I can develop my own applications.

13,400 PointsI haven't taken any Android courses, but I can speak on behalf of the other tracks I'm currently involved in. It may be a stretch to say that a mere completion of the track will give you all the skills you need to land a new career in that area. Nowadays, even a four year college degree doesn't necessarily mean one is career ready. I find that these courses, instead, give you a great platform on which you can practice these newly acquired skills and helps connect a lot of dots. After you practice a lot, write some of your own applications, and submit code to places like github, you'd be more prepared to go into a new career. Just keep practicing. Hope this helps!

Treehouse will certainly be an awesome starting point for your new App Developing career. However, you will still have to spend quite a lot of your own time fully getting to grips with Android development in order to develop apps for a living. How much time obviously depends on the complexity of the apps you are wanting to create!
Don't let this put you off from applying to Android Dev jobs though because there is no harm in trying and if you do get offered a place you will still be learning a lot.

13,400 PointsYes you can, and I've noticed these forums to be extremely helpful. You can even tweet the instructors directly if you want. Outside of Treehouse, I'm certain there's a huge Android community on the internet to help out. http://androidcommunity.com/
