What program(s) do I need on my computer to take the courses and do the practice?

No programs. You have to be able to watch the videos and run the "workspace"-it's just a blank area for coding your site. its not hard

Depending on which tracks you choose to take there will be programs you'll need. Usually at the beginning of a track they'll introduce you to the required programs. Such as in the HTML module they mention different text editors and point you to them. If you take a Sass course, you'll need Ruby, and then Sass and Compass. If you're on a Mac these are easily obtained as Ruby is built in. Then the instructions to download Sass and Compass are easily downloaded.

If you take Photoshop or Illustrator, it does help to have the Adobe Suite so you can practice what you're taught.

As stated above, you do have access to Workspaces which helps you get through the tutorials as well.
