Good Tracks for basic "Job Ready" proficiency

Hi,

In a recent interview, Ryan said that most people could reach a basic "Job Ready" proficiency in about 6 months studying on a part time basis.

I'd be interested what in tracks, and in what order this should ideally be done.

I'd appreciate your comments thanks

Giles;

That is a terrific question. I would say that while the answer varies a little depending on what your desired programming track is, in general there would be five basic questions to ask yourself to help gauge your job readiness. This is not a fast and sure gauge, and is rather Treehouse specific, but is easily doable in the six month time frame Mr. Carson has discussed.

  1. You’ve completed a Track so that you have new skills with which to work

  2. You’ve tackled outside projects that prove you have the ability to solve problems on your own (3-5 depending on size and complexity)

  3. You’ve helped out in the forums by sharing your knowledge with other students

  4. You’ve put together a profile/resume that shows your experience and results

  5. You've prepared yourself for interviews and have polished answers for common interview questions

Again, this is just a basic list, but if you can get through those five things in a six month time frame you would realistically be knowledgeable enough to tackle most entry-level positions in your area of focus.

and thank you for a great answer Ken!

I get your logic and putting it into a series of steps makes it really easy to follow. Brilliant!

I have found there is a lot of interest (jobs) for the Front-end Developer Track. Now to get job ready :-)
