Hello,
Since all of us here spend a big amount of our time staring at computer screens, I guess it's a good place to post this.
Did you hear about http://www.gunnars.com ? I am thinking to purchase these as I have really sensitive eyesight.
Personally I spend at least 12 hours a day staring at screens, of course I'm trying to keep the 20-20-20 rule as much as I can, but I still get watery and dry eyes a lot.

2,435 PointsHell expensive xd for me

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsThe downside of f.lux is that you cannot use it on multiple devices, and I heard it's not as good as having a protective glass like Gunnar glasses.
Still doing my research, but for sure will post my honest opinion when I purchase and use it for some weeks. they actually have a 30 day money-back guarantee so, I will try it.
I do agree they are expensive, but think that protecting your eyes has no price tag, at least for me.

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsYes, i agree with you, but i dont earn yet : p

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsThat will be awesome if you could tell how it went :D
Although, make sure for the 30 days you will go sleep regurary and maybe normal breaks :D so see if it actually works.
Btw, do you know anything i could do for my eyes? they are dry and i have blooshots as well as i move my rigth eye, hurts a lil. And i had this before, and when i was sleeping regulary and sat on pc with break it was kidan fine, but now i just spend like straight 10hours from 1am and its 10am almsot straight , i slept 6h from 6am to 1am : d u see what i mean , i ahve bad management but yet, i can use PC only at night .. thats why this pattern, if id go sleep at like 9pm? id never gonna have chance to be on pc, well, today im free fomr college, but its about parents, so strangely im sitting from 1am and they are here now and im still on pc, but it wont last long : p

Well first of all, see an optometrist (eye doctor). you can also buy natural tears (eye drops) at your local pharmacy, and use them daily whenever you feel your eyes start to dry.
I get you about the PC use, but you should find a way to get some sleep in regular hours, because even if you spend years studying/developing something, what does it worth if in some years your eyesight will become so poor that you won't be able to even USE a PC or other devices.
- Get sleep
- Do the 20-20-20 rule
- Try to get some rest.
Actually I would like to hear from users who have been developing for 5-10 years and how they feel about their eyesight.

2,435 PointsWhen i visited a doctor she said i have eye inflammation and gaved me some medicien for the eye and it went okay and she said i have to do all regulary because it wont work otherwise, infact i didnt look at phone nor at screen for 3 days wit the medicine and it was ok. - It was in Poland last year, now im in UK , but i should come to Poland soon, but thats the problem . My eyes are working too much and all this inregular stuff + extreme long time on pc for , well 16hours in summer for 2 months last year?
yes i know, for me health is on first place ish, but i even study on pc, if i had my own pc, then i would do everything regulary but i dont. Plus college around 30h on pc per week which the time isnt spend wisely as the courses are poor ;d and my plan is to buy a pc at the end of this year , hopefuly if i can get a job or freelance with wordpress.
The thing is that when i comeback to home, my mum is on the pc and i can go on it at 9pm/21 o clock because thats why they go sleep and i need to wake up at 8 o clock and usualy i sit more than midnight , unless i could study on paper programming with book? eh xd
Bill Gates has massive gogle tho xd
I can see ok, and its the end, if i carry on, i could see little bluried , so im like on my last EYE worning before i shoul probably wear glasses.

10,071 PointsGamma Ray glasses are an inexpensive option if you want to try computer glasses without spending a lot (find them on Amazon). I've never used a more expensive brand so I can't compare them to anything else, but they've really helped my eyes feel less strained from using a computer all day at work.

Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsFor those who will read this and want to know what is the 20-20-20 rule:

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsI have brightnes usualy pretty low as if i put it lighter my eyes will cry , if you put like 100% on Mac i cant, i susualy have on like 10%-20% and on windows i usualy have contrast between 50-65units and 60-80 units of brightness.
Is that ok or i have the screen actually too dark and need to take a serious break?

28,888 PointsMichael,
I just picked up the http://shop.gunnars.com/anime/d/1002_c_903 for the same reason. I think the investment is incredibly worth it.

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsIf im gonna buy one, what should i buy?

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsAwesome Tim!
I also decided to give it a try and purchased the http://shop.gunnars.com/haus/d/1026_c_903 I will wait for them to arrive, use them for a couple of days and will post here my thoughts. :)

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsTim, I just got mine today!
Have you got yours yet? It seems weird at first but I am starting to adjust.

Tim Knight
28,888 PointsI have. I'm thinking about switching to the ones you got. Mine feel a little too small for a 6'3" guy, but I find them comfortable after some adjustment time.

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsWell, don't think mine are any bigger, they fit me good, and I am 5'9".
I can send you some photos of it to compare if you want.

Tim Knight
28,888 PointsNo worries, I took their measurement specs and kind of drew up an example... it's the lens area that's just a little taller. Still fitting comfortably?

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsYeah Tim, fit is perfect, I think I did a good choice choosing this frame!
Been using them for 7 hours straight now, they seem to do the job as described.

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsInteresting! Is there any type that would fit my height better if im 6ft? Im gonna buy them as soon as im going to afford one.

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsKonrad, I believe the one I purchased will fit most really good, and I think that's why it's one of the popular models.

Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsThe glasses are just natural rigth? they dont have any contact lens or anything like that? they just filter the screen so your eyes dont get dry ? and thenk you for the link.

Michael Afanasiev
Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsWhat I noticed is that they have a really slight magnification (like 0.5x+) but you wont really notice it. You can order the regular ones with the "fatigue blocker" like mine or with prescription, depending on your needs.
I suggest you to browse a bit their website, you'll find all the info you need there.
Konrad Pilch
2,435 PointsKonrad Pilch
2,435 PointsSame : p
I dont know if that has the same effect or not, but f.lux is good as well.
And thank you for the post.
