Hi folks,
I just built a fan page for a wildlife stream I watch and I'd really appreciate any feedback on the overall design on some different devices. Does it break? Can the looks be improved? Is it usable? Find it here http://revolva.info
Cheers

Overall this is a really great start! The hardest part of design and development is just buckling down and doing the work. What I noticed that you have done well is your hierarchy of elements is fairly strong at the begining of the page but once you scroll down you get a bit lost..
Just a few things you can work on:
The oval images towards the bottom of the page are all floated left and the paragraph starts all the way to the right of the page and this just feels awkward to have to travel that far with my eyes to start reading the copy. Also when the browser size gets smaller the images do scale which is good however they stay floated next to each other making them get very tiny and impossible to view. If you had those stop floated and stack vertically instead that would look better visually.
I would try to create some sort of sidebar or another column to put content in because right now the content is spanning the entire width of the browser which on a mobile device is perfectly fine but on a large desktop monitor, it is very tiring for a user to have to follow the line all the way across the page and the track back to the beginning of the next line all the way back on the other side of the page. You could put some of the smaller amounts of information in a sidebar to create a shorter horizontal paragraph. Maybe the "When does it happen" section could go in a sidebar.
Also the centered headlines are not defining enough and distract from reading as well. You start centered at the title of the page. Then move down and everything is centered which is fine then once you get to the left justified paragraphs that throws my eye for a loop. See example here http://www.vanseodesign.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/above-the-fold-screenshot.jpg
I'm not a huge fan on the blue links on the yellow background mixed in with black font color. It just ins't appealing to the eye. The trick with hyperlinked text within paragraphs is making it noticeable enough for the users to see them but also not too contrasting to the rest of the document where you become annoyed by the random color. I would try to play with the color of the hyperlinks there. Maybe using a lighter brown? Try some different ones there that looks good against the black. You may even want to try changing the color of the black text? Maybe do a softer dark grey or a brown just so its not so hard on the eyes.
There are no definitive sections to web site. All I see is just one long block of text. Try breaking up the site with <hr> tags? Here is a nice video where nick shows how to set up the visual hierarchy for his content. http://teamtreehouse.com/library/design-and-development/designing-the-visual-hierarchy-of-content
Anyways, great start! Keep up the passion to learn more and the only way to improve is to keep asking questions and getting comments on your work so keep it up!
Hope this helps!

Courses Plus Student 5,571 PointsThat's fantastic feedback, thanks a lot. It was built with no real planning which I now realise was a mistake but I wanted to lay it out and get something up in a hurry. I'll definitely be looking at some of your suggestions and adjusting accordingly.
