Has anyone tried this tutorial without looking at the answers?

I'm trying to figure out how to do the steps without looking at the answers (actual code snippets). And instead of following verbatim, I'm trying to read and follow documentation on sequelize.org. But this is nearly impossible! How is anyone supposed to know how to do the initializing steps without just copying and memorizing? We can't rely on Treehouse to be here holding the student's hand on every single new topic, or can we. In other words, instead of being told the answer, I want to learn how to find the answer. Am I wrong in my approach?
