Has WordPress so much power on the market now?

Actually, to be honest and get straight forward to the point:

how important is to become a WP expert nowadays? has WP a lot of impact on this field?

Tell me a bit about it, I am thinking on focus on WP, but I would like to know what do you think about it.

Thanks in advanced.

Treehouse can certainly give your WP skills a boost, think about theming, custom post types and general best practices, I'm still going through all the courses even though I know a lot of it already. I took alot of courses on Lynda too, but I prefer Treehouse.

Learn the basics and important stuff, build websites and try to build them better and easier to use for the clients every time. My first WP website wasn't as structured as I build them now, but you learn by doing.

I started building WordPress sites about a year ago because a client needed a simple CMS for his product website. Nowadays I get calls on a daily bases from small and big companies that need WordPress websites. I used to think that Drupal would be the way to go, but in my personal experience it's the other way around.

More and more people, companies and even big communication agencies are leaning towards WordPress, so I think it's a good idea to focus on WP, at least it's working great for me!

My WordPress journey started also about a year ago. I had experiences with other CMS systems more IT biz related than internet related. First I have to say: I love WordPress deep from my heart.

I'm a full time freelancer and so I have to get paid for my project work. For me in Germany it seems to be hard to find some WordPress related projects, also with the opportunity to work remote (most of the time) - which is my preferred setting. I have a couple of customers who want a new website and they don't take care which system works under the hood. That is where I'm using WordPress today. On the other hand I see a lot of project requests for WordPress but they are most often in the big cities and allow no remote work.

At the moment I could say that 50% of my income is WordPress related.

To point out my 5cents - yes, from my point of view WordPress has a lot of power in the worldwide market. The community and platform puts you on the driver seat, but you have to turn the key and choose your preferred track - and you have to drive your own :-)

Have fun discovering your WordPress world.

Hey thanks for your answers. It motivates me to go ahead on learning WP.

I have to 2 questions more.

1 - Do you think that here on Treehouse you can become a WP expert with their courses?

2 - Or where did you learn everything about WP?

Is because here in my city we have 2 academies where they are teaching WP, basic and advanced level and I am thinking on take the course but if you say that with Treehouse is enough I can just keep learning here.
