I have been wanting to learn web designing and development for a long time now. While it is easy to find resources online to do the learning, it is difficult to get sample projects to work on.
One thing I love about Treehouse is the fact that it gives you challenges to complete after every stage. That's great because it helps you absorb your learning in a better and more solid way.
However, I feel that treehouse will stand out if it has another section for sample projects that students can work on. They can be a replica of a real world brief for a website or an application. If these projects are incorporated after every milestone, I think it will be really great for all of us to get some hands on experience in the web design/development world.
Since we don't have sample projects in treehouse to work on for now, are there any other websites that give out these projects? Is there a way people can practice on 'real-world' projects without having the risk of dealing with real world clients?
This can also help people create portfolios with dummy projects for showcasing to potential clients.

Great suggestion! However, I am looking for something more php/html/css websites oriented.

6,414 PointsWhat I started doing, for certain projects, I would start up sublime text or any text editor and mimic the tutorials from scratch; such as the ones Guil would start doing. Of course I substituted the images with blocks of color, but if I could get build up the same website or examples that were on the tutorials it certainly helped out a lot.
