Having trouble getting this JavaScript code parsed, what am I doing wrong?

After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. When you call the returnValue function, make sure to pass in any string you'd like for the parameter.

The function will accept the string you pass to it and return it back (using the return statement). Then your echo variable will be set with what is returned, the results.

I have created a variable "echo" and passed the value "upper" into it and I am having it return in the variable echo. I am then calling the function with the value of the variable "test".

This works in the JavaScript console fine, but not in the exercise. Please advise.

script.js
function returnValue(upper) {
    var echo = upper;
  return echo;
}

returnValue('test');
index.html

After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. You declared echo within your function. No matter. You can still pass by following the instructions and assigning the results to echo.

function returnValue(upper) {
    var echo = upper;
  return echo;
}

var echo = returnValue('test');
