Hello! can someone please help me with using index to pull items from strings that start with a specific character?

youre looking for if continents[0]=="A"

or rather if continent[0]=='A'

You have to first iterate through them all (for continent in continents), then check which start with A (if continent[0]=="A"), then for each that returns true, print the result:

continents = [
    'Asia',
    'South America',
    'North America',
    'Africa',
    'Europe',
    'Antarctica',
    'Australia',
]

# Your code here
for continent in continents:
    if continent[0] == "A":
        print("* {}".format(continent))
