Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types list.remove()

Hello..I am using the .remove () and I think I am reading the list incorrectly.

The number 5 is the last item on the list?

lists.py
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]

Hi Michelle,

You are correct. The '5' is the last item in the list, so to remove it, just put the value into the parenthesis.

states.remove(5)

Keep Coding! :)

HI Jason :) It is this? states.remove(5)?

For Task 1 of the challenge, yes. That is the code that you need to pass. :)

I have been getting a syntax error.

You shouldn't been getting any errors for that code. Weird?

This is what it should look like (including the pre-loaded code) for Task one completion.

states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]

states.remove(5)

I just realized I was trying to type my answer on the line of code with ] so that is why it kept saying syntax error. Thank You.
