Help with TreeHouse Challenge

I have been tasked this: The code in Main.java is going to throw an IllegalArgumentException when the drive method is called. Catch it and warn the user.

this is what i added to my code:

public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { GoKart kart = new GoKart("yellow"); if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) { System.out.println("The battery is empty"); } kart.drive(2);

   try {
          kart.drive(10);
  } catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
    System.out.println("Whoa There!");
    System.out.printf("The error was: %s\n", iae.getMessage());
  }

}

}

But im getting: Bummer! Looks like you didn't catch the exception.

How can i fix this and why does my code not work.

You have to first throw a new IllegalArgumentException("Message"); before you write a try catch statement. Otherwise iae.getMessage() won't work.

i have thrown a new IllegalArgumentException i just need to catch it now.

Hello Mehrdad,

You have to collapse both kart.drive(2) and kart.drive(10), because the drive() method is the "problematic" method!

Let me know if that worked ? Thanks

what do you mean by collapse? Do you mean to replace them both with kart.drive(12); ?
