1,467 PointsHey! What's the road-map for a 16yr old, wanting to be a Web Designer, and to start working as one, as soon as possible?
Hello, I am 16 years old, and I wanted to start working as a Web Designer. I want to start earning (financial problems). I live in India, and have no work experience at all. Could someone enlighten me , telling, what exactly my road-map should be, and what should I do? It would be of great help! I have 840 points on Treehouse ( of course, I'll learn many new things and increase that). Please help. Thank you :)

I hate to give such an obvious answer, but what comes to mind is the web designer track here on treehouse.

Have you seen that yet? Other than that I don't know. You could also google this same question to find more articles on the subject if you haven't already. Hopefully some actual working web designers will respond to your question and help you out.
There is also the freelancer course. Many people I have seen on freelance websites like freelancer.com are from India. I wonder if there are any local web design firms in your area where you could go to work as an apprentice or something.

I think you are in the right place. There is tons of stuff here on treehouse. Congratulations to you for being so young and taking charge of things. I hope things work out well for you.

9,682 PointsFirst of all, i appreciate and congratulate you about your wishes having only 16 years old. If i had this when i was younger, i definetly would have a lot of experience now. Im 24 years old.
By the way, start doing the WebDesign track http://teamtreehouse.com/tracks/web-design
Then you can do the Front-End Web Development http://teamtreehouse.com/tracks/frontend-web-development
My advices are:
Do it with passion and organize yourself.
Dont think on the short-term, think that you have a lot to learn and you will become a great developer on the long-term
Define goals and concentrate on it. If you study hard during 4 years, with 20 years old you will be great on what you do (i think you can do it in less time if you get passionate about it).
Be patient, money will come as a reward.
The road is long, full of obstacles, but if you want something you have to go after it, no one can stop you.
And good luck! I hope you get great on what you do and donΒ΄t forget, study, study and love studying, you will have your moment!!!

8,629 PointsHi Sachin,
Try the wordpress courses (go to the library and begin with one or two) it will be intuitive and you build them as you learn. You will be able to build and sell websites pretty soon. Try Odesk or freelancer to find jobs. And don't forget that for the long term you will need more knowledge of html css javascript and php, so keep learning these as you go. But if you are in a hurry I would say wordpress, in two weeks you can get yourself a good portfolio and knowledge enough to begin.

1,467 PointsHello Diana, I started off with HTML and CSS (only the basics) , and currently I'm learning Javascript. I'll then learn jquery and Ajax. We are taught Java in school, so programming seems a bit familiar and easy. Once I'm done with Ajax; as you said, I'll jump on to Wordpress or try freelancer immediately. Thank you so much! :)
