Python Functions, Packing, and Unpacking Getting Info In and Out of Functions Functions with Arguments and Returns

Hi guys. I need help with this.

I don't know what to do here. Watched videos a couple times over, but still can't seem to understand what I'm doing wrong. Please help.

creating_functions.py 
def hello_student(name):
    name = input("Name")
    return name
print(hello_student('Hello '(name)))

You seem to have gotten slightly off-track. Here are a few hints:

  • the function should use the passed argument, you won't need to "input" anything
  • the string should be combined inside the function
  • the combined string is what the function should return

Thanks. Managed to figure it out. def hello_student(name): val =("Hello ") + name return val

Good deal! But while they don't hurt, you don't need parentheses around a string. :wink:
