How can i create separate if statement?

<?php $studentOneName = 'Dave'; $studentOneGPA = 3.8;

$studentTwoName = 'Treasure'; $studentTwoGPA = 4.0;

//Place your code below this comment if ($studentOneGPA == 4.0) { echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Roll"; } elseif ($studentOneGPA < 4.0) { echo "$studentOneName has a GPA of $studentOneGPA "; }

if ($studentTwoGPA == 4.0) { echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Roll"; } elseif ($studentTwoGPA < 4.0) { echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA"; }

?>

index.php
<?php
$studentOneName = 'Dave';
$studentOneGPA = 3.8;

$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;

//Place your code below this comment
if ($studentOneGPA == 4.0) {
 echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Roll";
} elseif ($studentOneGPA < 4.0) {
 echo "$studentOneName has a GPA of $studentOneGPA ";
}

if ($studentTwoGPA == 4.0) {
 echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Roll";
} elseif ($studentTwoGPA < 4.0) {
 echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA";
}

?>

You actually have created two separate "If" statements, but apparently the "elseif" part is confusing the challenge checker.

Convert the "elseif"s to ordinary "else"s to pass the challenge.

Hi I received the error if I change to "else"

Bummer: syntax error, unexpected 'echo' (T_ECHO) in index.php on line 12

Perhaps your conversion was incomplete. Don't forget that a plain "else" does not take a conditional expression.

Anyone can let me know the correct answer for reference? Thank you

Simply change the "elseif"s to "else" (and remove the conditional clause). For example:

<?php
//...
} elseif ($studentOneGPA < 4.0) {  // instead of this
} else { // you would have this
