How can I remove a background from a file imported into a Photoshop canvas?

My canvass background is blue the image is on a white background. I'd also like to texture the background. What feature can I use? Thanks

try using the magic wand, selecting the white area with a click then deleting it with the delete key.

Hi Matthew,

That didn't work. It is telling me that I can't "Edit the Contents of this Smart Object".

I am also trying to add some texture to my restaurant menu design. Thanks

Try rasterizing the image first by right clicking on the image in the layer panel and selecting rasterize layer. Then you should be able to use the magic wand and delete method.

I've must have rasterized it but it didn't work. I've tried to go back now and do it again but it is greyed out so I assume I've done it already. Is there a way I can get the image over to you to take a look at it? Thanks

upload your psd to filedropper.com and post a link i guess.

Here is your psd I raterized the layer and deleted the white area with the magic wand selection like i mentioned above. If you need any other help let me know. matt@magnetwd.com
