How do I change MX Records on Student Web Hosting?

I need to change my MX details on my web hosting account so that I can point my email servers to the right place. But Student Web Hosting seems to have no online 'control panel' or similar to use that I can see. Has anyone done this before who could help me with this?

I don't have a student web hosting account but with my hosting I manage my DNS through cPanel including MX records. in some cases this may be managed through whoever you purchased the domain from. It really depends on what the nameservers have been set at on the domain.

Do you mind letting me know your domain name so I can do a lookup to provide some further insight or perhaps a support email to student web hosting may assist you.

Thanks for the response. My domain is registered with 123reg (UK company) but, having tried to change my email settings with them, I have been informed by Google (email provider) that I need to change settings with host, not domain. Can you help me any further with this?

It really depends on where your domain name is pointing to weither its using the dns of the domain or the hosting.... do you mind going to http://who.is/ and doing a search to see if it'll show up a Name Server or more. Whatever shows up there is who/where you'd have to update the MX records with.

I have checked the whois details earlier on. The domain is using the dns of the hosting. Student Web Hosting send an email out with the dns settings on and those are the ones which you enter into the domain site. I have already tried before to enter MX records into the domain site but apparently, according to google, this is not the correct place to do this.

I See.

Sorry, Some domain providers offer DNS hosting so that's why i was trying to work out who hosts the records first.

Did student web hosting also provide a login for cPanel? in my cPanel with another hosting provider I have "MX Entry" under the "Mail" section to change those otherwise you may need to contact web hosting support to have them update it manually from their master control panel.

Yes! Thank you for this, I have found my cPanel access and logged in. I believe I have managed to enter them in but just waiting for Google to confirm this. Thank you, David Thomas, you have been a great help!

You're most certainly welcome, I remember when I setup Google Apps for Email a few years ago for the first time the Google Documentation wasn't all that helpfull.
