How do I display all the info I can access from the Google Maps API like Dave does with the Flickr API?

In this video, Dave uses ?format=json and the JSON View extension to display all the data one can access. I try this with the Google Maps API with my key plugged in, and I get an error when adding ?format=json. And JSON View doesn't work for me at all.

I browsed the documentation, but I didn't have much luck getting the answer to this question from there, either.

i wondered the same i wanted to pull treehouse's information
