How do I download the version of Android Studio used in the class while keeping my updated version from the website?

When downloading Android Studio, i opted for the new version on developer.android.com. The layout and functionality of some of the fields are different. Example: When creating an emulator, i don't have the option to input the information he does in the video. When i choose the emulator(Nexus 5), it tells me that i need to re-configure my emulator. This is the error it gives me;

emulator: The memory needed by this AVD exceeds the max specified in your HAXM configuration. HAX is not working and emulator runs in emulation mode emulator: AVD RAM size = 1536 MB emulator: HAXM max RAM size = 512 MB emulator: You might want to adjust your AVD RAM size and/or HAXM configuration to run in fast virt mode. creating window 43 59 329 583 emulator: emulator window was out of view and was recentered

It also show up half way out of view with no ability to drag it into view or resize the window.

Should I just download the class version? Should I delete this one? Can i have both at the same time with the same file name? Please HELP

I would definitely advise you to use the latest version of Android, regardless of what Ben is using in the videos. Most of the things stay the same, and the things that don't, have only been improved. Your computer may not have enough RAM to set up the exact same emulator that Ben uses, so choose something simpler (or, if you have one, a real Android device!).

Now, to resize the emulator, do this:

  1. Press on the Run tab, on the top of the screen
  2. Press on Edit Configurations
  3. Click on the Emulator tab to the right
  4. Enter this: -scale 0.5 (or, if that doesn't work: -scale: 0.5)

This will scale down all of your emulators by 50%. You can change that value to make it as big or small as you want.

Jacob, initially where did you go to download the studio software. I am at the beginning. and how to do it.
