How do I get my AVD to run my app?

I am having trouble getting my AVD to actually RUN the app, it just presents me with a home screen for Android. I am running Windows 8.1 and using Android Studio.

Thanks to anyone who can help me!! Greatly appreciated!

Go into applications and then select your app from the App Drawer.

If this doesn't work then comment back here. Best of luck.

Do you have your emulator listed in Android DDMS window in Android Studio (hover mouse bottom left > select Android)? Or if you prefer in Android Device Monitor (Toolbar > button next to Help)?

Try to restart everything, and run again your app.
