How do I name a variable?

I am doing a challenge and the first part is "Create a variable with the word name and your own name.

I have tried: name = Kevin as well as Kevin = name

No dice. Any help would be great!!!

Strings must be defined with either single or double quotes.

name = 'your name'

or

name = "your name"

Hope this clears things up a bit more.
