How do I pass a string to a function?

Getting stuck on this challenge. How do I pass the string "Tom" to the greeting function? How do I declare the string?

func greeting(person: String) { println("Hello (person)") }

greeting(person)

Hello, Michael.

The code you are looking for is:

func greeting(person: String) -> String {
    return("Hello \(person)")
}
greeting("Tom")

:)

OH, right!

func greeting(person: String) {

 println("Hello \(person)")

 }

greeting("Tom")

You were missing the \ in (person) and to introduce "Tom" in the greeting :)

That's interesting. I haven't learned the "return" command yet or the "->" command.

Thanks William! That's exactly what was wrong.
