How do I use PHP in another Text Editor? Please Help!

Hi all! So I've been creating my php files I need for the PHP website course in my text editor, Brackets. But when I go to live preview, it says I must enter a base url. Not even sure where to start! Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Since PHP is a server side language it requires a server to be ran. I would suggest installing a local server like MAMP and running your PHP locally and to avoid using the live preview on Brackets with server side languages.

Hope it helps! Angelo

Ok, does the PHP basics course by Alena Holligan, I believe, teach that thoroughly?

Brackets doesn't really support backend, but that isn't your problem.

If you want to run a PHP site locally, take a look at this workshop.

MAMP is fairly easy to setup, but I prefer using Vagrant and Scotch Box

There are other Text editors that support backend better, one being Atom. You might want to look into it.
