How far into this course can I get without a Mac? I'm getting one in about a week. (Black Friday!)

Pretty much new to all this.

Can I start Swift if I have an iPad?

Hi!

You can't get anywhere ;/ You have to have iMac.

Well, you can go throw it and write it on a paper or somewhere and get the feel of it, i mean get a taste and understand the logic by watching and doing something. But for programming for apple , iOS , you have to have iMac.

you can get as far as you want check this out!. http://www.swiftstub.com/

Currently I don't have a Mac, but I have it installed on my Windows by using VMWare. I really like this course, and I want to learn more about iOS development and Swift programming language. To get through this course, maybe I will use the VMWare Mac OS, until I have enough money to buy a new Mac.

I switched to VMWare Mac OSX for my main Workstation, because I already have a powerful PC and my Macbook Air was clearly getting slower and slower for work. If you can find your way around some little differences, its clearly the same experience for much less money.

Oh, another thing , to develop for apple , its free. But Swift is new if you know and for some reason , you will have to pay ok 99 dollars, 60 pounds and equivalent in other countries, to develop in that programming language. So save another bit of money to buy a licence :)

Hope it helps

Not true. You can write and run code in Objective C or Swift for free. In order to publish in the App Store for iOS or Mac, or in order to test your apps on an iOS device, regardless of what language you use, you need to pay the $99 a year per platform.
