How I take notes and practice

Hello Guys

Today I want to share some tips about taking notes and practicing what we learn on Treehouse or any other site.

First of all download this program named snapper which saves captured screen shots ("PrntScr" button on your keyboard) from the link below.

Where ever you put the exe file the program will save screenshots in jpg format in the same folder. You may also choose another folder but to make things easy you can copy this file to a folder on desktop and can organize the images later on.

Now what I do is that when I watch videos (which I usually have to download because of slow internet speed) I scale down the size of the video player to a reasonable viewable level and open a notepad by it's side. Then whenever I need to take notes I pause the video, write down the notes under stage and video heading. Capture the screen and continue.

In this way my note taking speed has increased a lot and I have stopped using photoshop to capture screenshots and wasting time in organizing and taking notes. Also now, I don't need pen and paper strategy which lacked visual presentation and was time consuming.

For practicing and reviewing I have chosen a project of my own in which I use the things learned and search for more things on google if I need to. However, for grilling down the concepts in my brain in short time, I frequently review my screen notes and resolve quizzes and code challanges again and again.

Here is another utility called always on top for keeping a window on top of another whether you are active on that window or anther. This app is ideal when you want to take notes and don't want to shift tabs again and again for taking notes. Here is the link

I would like you to share your experiences and tips too.

Omer, if you like learning with flash cards, you might check out Janki Method. It's also geared along the lines of memory-based repetition, sort of like that you are doing here. Thanks for sharing by the way. Personal notes can sometimes be the best.
