JavaScript Treehouse Club - MASH MASH - JavaScript Fill in Answers and Get Answers Functions

How important is it to FULLY understand everything in the Digital Literacy Track, specifically the JS basic intro?

I am about to complete the digital literacy track. I am brand new to coding and all of this, but I was able to understand all the html/css basics, as well as edit everything in the MASH game to make it work as a random super hero game (ie what powers do you have, what planet are you from, archenemy, and sidekick).

Unfortunately, I still don't fully understand how all the functions were connected to the events and the submit button, and I wouldn't be able to recreate it from scratch. How important is this knowledge right now? Do I need to rewatch these videos?

I plan to continue with the Front End Web Developer Track, then Web Design, then JS, and finally PHP... before starting my own practice projects on the side. Will TREEHOUSE go more in depth with those lessons?

In case you want to see what I did... https://w.trhou.se/h73f8k9613

I ended up messing the game up... i had to change some of the names in JS to make it work again.. but still a bit confused at how it all comes together..

I am feeling the same way.

Was interested in what you had done as I couldn't get my game to work properly, but yours doesn't work either. Does exactly as mine being that when you hit the button the page just wipes clean and the completed sentence with the added options doesn't pop up at the top.

I was able to change what was written in places, but not have it all come together as a functioning game...I double checked, went away and checked again but still couldn't see what was wrong.

Hope you have gotten on better with it since! x

If you're going into the Developer track, I'd just consider what you saw in Digital Literacy as an "appetizer".

Everything will be covered more thoroughly in the Developer track courses.

thanks!

I was worried that as I watched all of these videos, that I wouldn't be able to continue as I'm not really retaining the information, and I'm somewhat guessing the answer on the quizzes. About 20% of the answers were a straight up guess. I'm thankful that I get more in depth training as I move along. However this is a great course, and Joy Kestern has done an excellent job.
