How is a subquery different than a WHERE clause?

In the video's example, we want to know all cars with the ModelYear of 2015. So, a second query is written and then placed as a subquery.

How does this differ from just having a clause: WHERE ModelYear = 2015?

Dave, you're right. The subquery is obtaining information from a different table. I failed to see that at the beginning.

Is the ModelYear column in the same table as the FROM clause?
